As July 4th, 2019 approaches there is the beginning of a serious plan to do for what could be our first long term trip (in both duration and distance) RV excursion.  We now have family living in Key West FL so we have been watching some You Tube videos about Key West.  One iconic thing you see in almost every video is the southernmost point in the U.S.  We plan on visiting Key West as often as we can in the next 18 months or so, but in the spring of 2021, we are trying to have a family reunion with all of our kids and grand-kids.  Key West is a possible destination for that.  Since we plan to have our travel trailer by then and taking it with us, we could start an epic trip from Key West to Nova Scotia.  In that process we can hit the southernmost point and the easternmost point in the U.S.

Family Reunion

We will have to have some discussion on WHERE we will all meet, but my thinking is Key West. We are hoping that we can do the family reunion in April of 2021 and if it is in Key West, that would give us some time to make our way north before it gets too hot.  After leaving the keys, I think the southwestern coast of Florida would be a good place to stop for a few days. When I was 12 years old I visited the Sarasota FL area, and those white sandy beaches are still stuck in my mind.  Maybe we could head towards Tampa and stay at Lazy Days RV center for a night.  Another place I would love to stay at for a few days is Rainbow River state park.  When we used to live in Florida we would go to Ichetucknee Springs and tube down the river, and Rainbow River looks just like that only bigger.

I think we would plan to be in North Carolina by Memorial Day to spend time with our daughter & son-in-law and their family.  After that I think we’d try to travel more in order to get to the northeastern states before mid June.  We really do not have a real plan right now, just kind of thinking out loud here and getting a rough “maybe” idea.  We could spend most of July in Nova Scotia and then work our way west towards Niagara Falls area.

Need To Research

I’m sure there are some “must see” places along the eastern seaboard to see, but we haven’t researched that far yet.  This whole idea was just from seeing that iconic southernmost point in those You Tube videos!!  We will eventually hit all 4 of those “most” points in the lower 48 in our travels, and quite possibly could hit the northernmost point after leaving the Niagara area.  In case you did not realize it, the northernmost point of the lower 48 is a small piece of Minnesota that is actually located in Canada!!  The only way to get there in a vehicle is to drive into Canada first.

By The Way…

Don’t tell Chris, but I think I’m going to research any Bigfoot hot spots to camp in!  She is not a big fan of the big guy.  I’m still trying to convince her that it’s OK to camp in the Boggy Creek area of Fouke Arkansas.
