MSGT Jennifer Riggs

Our first born, Jennifer, is proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant. In this pic, she is still a Tech Sergeant, and this is the day she became a Drill Sergeant. The militarily correct term is Military Training Instructor. Trust me, she will kick your butt if you get out of line and she can break down and reassemble an M-4 in about a minute. Chris and I traveled to Germany when she was stationed there and we had the BEST time ever. You’ll see more pics of the time we spent there on the Other Travels page.

LT Casey Riggs

This is our youngest, Casey. He flies the F-18E Super Hornet, because…well somebody’s gotta do it! Seriously, how can flying a super sonic jet fighter AND getting paid to do it be a job? He has successfully accomplished about 250 carrier landings on the USS Carl Vinson, and you might see some Go Pro footage of him on these pages. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Military Institute, he is one of the “One tenth of one percent” of ALL pilots in the world who can land a fighter on a ship.

Yours Truly

This is me when I was a younger man. I loved working on the Flight Deck of an aircraft carrier, even though it is one of the top 10 most dangerous places to work. It was always hard, hot, exausting work for 12-14 hours every day, but in the words of Brad Pitt when he played Sgt Fury, it “was the best job I ever had”. This is me working in the cockpit of an S-3B Viking jet. I went from E-1 to CWO3 during my service, and although the hardships and separations were real and painful, it was also very rewarding and satisfying.

No fixed address is correct when you spend 24 years moving around the globe in support of Navy Power Projection. Our worst/best trip was leaving NAMTRAGRUDET Lemoore CA for a PCS move to Misawa Japan. This move was scheduled as our 2nd overseas tour but hit some snags when I was selected for Chief Petty Officer while at a navy school in San Diego. During CPO initiation and through 2 order mods, we lived out of suitcases in various temp quarters for 181 days before finally settling into Yokosuka Japan and getting our express shipment delivered to our short term rental off base.
